archiving individual items within a dynamic app

I'm creating an issue log using a dynamic application and I would like the ability to archive closed items. Is this possible? I know I can create a folder and push all of the closed items in there, but users will still see them. If I can't archive them, is it possible to create a custom view that only allows a user to see open items?

Individual items can not be archived, only the projects that house them can be archived. Depending on the level of interaction you expect the users to have within the tool it could be possible to limit user's visibility to closed items from the global tab (if you re using a global dynamic app) via views (filter out closed folder items should do the trick). However if users need to work with items vs. viewing item information then you will most likely not be able to hide the closed items.
