Timesheet Export via Advanced Reporting (suitable for client billing)

Has anybody set up an Advanced Report to mimic what TimeSheet Export can do (merging aggregated timesheet workentries with project and task detail including custom fields corresponding to the timesheet tasks)?

I am seeking a way to produce virtually the same result as the Timesheet Export does, but be able to add formatting and filtering so that I can create a prompted report which will allow our billing department to create/print professional services time to be presented to clients in support of invoices.  At the Project Level i have a custom field for "Client" - and at the Task level i have a custom field for "Category/Type" - which in Timesheet export allows a result with Time Period, Project, Task name (for each project), hours, billable/non-billable flag, work hours, and rates BY client and BY Category.

Any ideas or fancy reports you've already created to do this?  Any other software & professional services firms who use Daptiv for the client facing billing detail on time-based fees?

    Thanks!

Re: Timesheet Export via Advanced Reporting (suitable for client billing)

I'll bet your custom "Category/Type" doesn't carryover to the timesheet, right?  We're a software development and services organization and we categorize our tasks as "Programming", "Analysis", "Project Management", etc.  I wanted to build this into the task but custom task fields aren't shown on the timesheet so I ended up "overloading" the Task Name to include the category.

We export our timesheets to Excel for billing.  There's no way to persist the field selection in the export process so every time we export, we have to go through the field selection process.  I haven't looked into the possibilties of using reports for this.

If you sense a negative tone in my entry it's because I'm very frustrated with this product.
