Updating Percentage Complete on a Task

    Hi All,

We're using PPM6 in an unusual way, we're not using any of the timesheet faclilities, we are simply monitoring planned and actual time and progress.  We have a problem however when it comes to entering % complete on the Update Task screen - it's not editable.  We are able to fix the actual start date on this screen, but we have to go back to the Edit Task screen to change the percentage complete.  Is there any way that this can be edited on the Update Task screen?  We would like to monitor update notes using this screen.

    Thanks for any help,
    Andy

    Andy,

Check the "Track Task Progress Using..." setting on the Timesheet Properties Admin screen.  The default setting is ETC.  Changing this to Percent Complete will allow your users to report progress by % complete rather than hours remaining.

Even though this setting is found under Timesheet Properties, it is universal and not strictly applicable for timesheets.

Thank you for that - just what I needed.

     Best regards, Andy.

You're welcome, glad that did the trick.

Also, I wanted to mention that the way you're using the application isn't "unusual" by any means.  The majority of clients I work with do not use Timesheets either, but simply need to track planned/scheduled vs. actual work, exactly as you are.  Whether they track by % Complete or ETC generally depends on the relative maturity of their PM processes.  ETC is much more precise but requires users and/or managers to assess Task progress at a level many organizations don't yet operate.  In my experience, most people who are not seasoned Project Managers tend to think of their work in % complete or % remaining.
