Well, as convoluted as it may sound, you can actually just copy the view and paste it into Excel. Here's what you'll want to do:
- Select the "Show All" option to get all of the view records on one page.
- Click and drag to select all of the records you wish to pull into Excel, then Copy them.
- Paste the selection into a blank Excel file, then save the file as a .csv.
- Close the Excel version (don't worry about saving it since you have the .csv version), and then open the .csv. This will strip out the HTML formatting like background colors, fonts, etc.
You may have to do a little cleanup, especially if you have multiple groupings in the view, so consider adding the grouping fields as columns in the view, then you can summarize them in Excel as you wish.
It's a bit of a workaround, but it actually works fairly well for shorter to medium length lists. The one gotcha is that it tends to insert a blank row between records, which will have to be removed in the Excel file.
