Disable Email Notification for task assignments?

Is there any way to disable email notification for task assignments?    Sometimes the project manager may need to edit the task more than once to get all the parameters right, but because email notifications happen the first time you save the task, the assignee may not see the most current task if accesses it through the emailed link.

    Your thoughts would be appreciated.

Currently there isn't a way to disable the notifications from the Administrative or management side, only the end user can disable notification emails through their login.

To clarify, if a user receives an email regarding a Task edit, and the task is edited several times afterwards, the link within that first email or any email thereafter will take the user to the most current version of the task.

Whenever you are logged in to eProject via direct login or email link, you see the most current information for the item being referred to.  In no way should eProject display an old edit once inside the system.  The email information may be out dated but the link always takes you to the current version inside eProject.

This morning I setup a rule to stop notifications for tasks assigned to me.  About an hour later, I assigned a task to myself and then received an email indicating I was asssigned to a task.

I then checked my notification rule and it seemed alright, although this is the first time I have used notification rules.

Is there some sort of delay before a notification rule becomes active perhaps?

Following on from your post in 2007, have there been any changes made to Daptiv that allows an Administrator or Manager to disable email notifications when assigning tasks (beyond creating fake email addresses for end users)?

    Thanks

I have asked that myself.  At this point, answer is no.

One option to address this scenario:

DE-activate your project members, and THEN assign them the tasks.  It seems counter-intuitive, but you may assign tasks to inactive project members.  (The DE-activation may be accomplished through the Members -- List View menu; check the boxes, then select the Checked Item Actions Menu...).

Once you have satisfied yourself that your schedule is complete and you are ready to notify the assignees, simply RE-activate all the members, and they will receive a single "Welcome Back to the Project" sort of notification.

Interesting.  When the users are deactivated and then re-added, they would get notices so one should tell them in advance, correct?

     Thanks,
