We are trying to create a dynamic application for enabling a certain process within our organization.  The dynamic application has certain fields which the users need to fill in. We would like to provide some "help text" within the fields themselves, which the users would type over, when they fill in the fields.

We are not able to figure out how to do this when we are designing the dynamic application. Any help would be appreciated.

Hi Murali,

For any text fields, you can include your directions as the Default Value, which is configured when you define the text fields on the Data Field Selectio step of the Dynamic Application wizard.

Could you tell me what the size limitation is for the default value in a text field.....meaning...how many chars can it hold? It does not seem it can hold more than 80-85 chars...  I would need more than that to hold the entire help text....Do you have any other suggestions?

It depends on what type of text field you are using.  A standard text field is limited to 100 characters.  A long text field, by default, allows 3500 characters (although you can change the max number of characters).

If you need to provide instructions that exceed 100 characters for a standard text field, you might consider adding a long text field called "Directions," which only purpose is to provide instructions for other fields.  We don't currently have a label field type for dynamic applications, but this would be a reasonable way to address that.
