    Bulk Import Projects?

    Hi,
I'd like to add a large list of projects into eProject, yet they are all in a spreadsheet file. Is there a feature to add multiple projects from a csv or tab file?

I see the MSProject bridge program, but I'd rather not copy and paste all my projects into Projects to load them into eProject

Unfortunately it is not possible to import spreadsheet data to become eProject Projects, it is going to have to be a manual process.

We do have a utility for importing project profile information (name, budget, priority, etc) from an Access database to seed the initial projects, but Task detail will have to be input manually or through the MS Project import or integration.  Let your Account Manager know if this is something that might work for you, it requires a bit of coordination on our end to get this going.

    Re: Bulk Import Projects?

    Hello Steve:

I am a new customer to eProject, and I am hoping that I don't have to take all of my customers/projects and manually input them into eProject.  We have 3,000 clients.  There must be a better way.  Any other suggestions as to how I can auto-import clients as projects?

I have manually inputed 200 clients/projects already, and then realized that I wanted a new dynamic application assigned to a project type with those 200 projects.  How do I globally add the new application to all projects under a given project type?  I do not want to go into 200 projects and add them one by one.

    Thank you.

    Ben and Nic,

To revise my original post and supplement what Erik said, we do have a tool in the works that will capture native and custom field data to create and populate in an import process.  The tool will be available as a services offering from our Professional Services Group because there are some technical requirements to be handled.  The tool will also populate Dynamic Application data for projects.  It is not quite ready for Native application imports yet (tasks, issues etc...).  For further information email your Account Exec.

Unfortunately, for the previously created 200 projects that you wish to enable the Dynamic Application for, you will have to manually go in and enable it on a project by project basis.  Moving forward, for every new project created of that type it will include the new dynamic app since you enabled it at the type level.  There is no bulk setting option simply because the majority of our customers would be in the position of not wanting a new application to suddenly appear in their projects because an Admin selected it at the type level.  It would however be a great feature request to have the option to push a setting to all previously created projects and I will send that on to our product team.

    Re: Bulk Import Projects?

I just saw Erik's reply.  I'll need more information on the Access db import process.  I also could use some advice on the project type question I added to the thread.  Thanks.

    Eric,

Is the Import from Access utility also something that needs professional services (if all we want to import is the Profile data)? A bulk project import would be a great feature. Also, if we have templates for project types, would imported projects pick up the templated material?

    Thaks

    Re: Bulk Import Projects?

At this time, you would need to consult with us to do this import.  The "utility" is really just a workaround until we can develop an official solution, so the data does need to be formatted correctly, and then the data is inserted directly to the database, so you would need to engage with our ProServe team to get this going.  In anticipation of your next question, I don't have a timeline on when an official tool will be available.

Since the import tool only allows project profile import and does not include project content, any template material would not be included in this import process.
