Abbey,
This is a great chance to set up some things you may not have set up. I would do them in the following order:
1) Set up your Skills if you haven't. You can even do things like Mechanical Engineer-1 or .NET-1 and .NET-2 for different levels of competencies. If you have your job families defined, you can even inser the skill level description in the description field to help define your company.
2) Set up Departments
3) Set up Billing Rates. Average fully burdened rates for levels or job familes is a great way to go. If you set these standard rates up, any changes can be made at the dates desired. NOTE: The billing rates are not salaries and should not be tied to salaries. In Daptiv, many users can see rates and for the purposes of estimation, I usually use a blended fully burdened rate of $55 internal and $85 external.
4) Set up Resource Types, include the Billing Rate for the type and the users associated with the type. The resource type is used in the Capacity Planner, Team Manager, Project-level Resource application and on reports.
