We have a common resource type (Software Engineer) that is shared by more than 1 department.

When a PM makes a Resource Request for that Resource Type to a Resource Manager for one department, another PM cannot make another request for the same Resource Type to another Resource Manager because the Resource Type is no longer available on the Resource Type/Name drop down menu.

 Is there another way to make more than 1 resource request for the same Resource Type to to different Resource Managers?

Sure, further define your Resource Type to include the department (SE-NPD or SDET-Engineering).

Does this mean that only 1 named Resource Manager can manage any given Resource Type?

This is the current constraint. 

The only alternative is one I am pushing to have a global RM login for all resource management activities and have all resources reporting to this login.  All resource management activities take place through this login and the RM sees all resources. 

 We have PMs who may be halfway through their project but now need to add resource types that they had previously requested. is there a way to do that without them having to edit their original request? When they try to use the drop down menu to request a resource previously requested that selection is not available.

It seems cumbersome to have to edit the original request. Am I missing something?
