    Significant Days for the Enterprise

If there is a day that is important to the enterprise -- so important it should appear on everybody's task list, can the administrator setup such a milestone or task?  For example, this date could be a product release that everyone has to be sensitive to. I believe this could be put in the calendar, but we are not big users of the calendar and I am specifically looking for something to land on everyone's task list.

    Thanks.

    Andrew,

You can always create a milestone in a project and invite everyone in as a member.  You can then notify or assign everyone of the milestone.  Since they aren't writing time against the milestone, I would notify.

At the project level, yes, this would work.  What I am looking for is a portfolio solution... where you have 10,20,100+ projects -- and adding this type of data is relatively quick.

    Thanks.

    Andrew,

For notification, you have the System Notification tab in the Admin area if you want to notify users.  You can also set Global Non-Working time at 1 hour (or more time) on a certain day and send notification.  Neither will show up on the timesheet, but the Global Non-working time will show up on your calendar.

Re: Significant Days for the Enterprise

I tried the System Notification (choosing all users by a particular workgroup) for a different purpose on Friday, but the email didn't go out; should've logged as an issue with customer support but didn't.  But what what I am really looking for is this special type of milestone/task that would appear on everyone's project regardless.  Emails are easy to ignore esp if you get 100,200+ per day.  But when a task shows up in the medium you are working from (the project plan), I think it's more difficult to ignore that.

Sounds like something I should explain in the greenhouse.

     Thanks,

Yes, and please log a case. Why don't you create a project for notifications and invite everyone in? The task can be created and assigned to everyone. You can also use the project for cross-project coordination and communication.

That's an interesting workaround. Thanks.  But yes, I will plant a seed in the greenhouse. Smile
