    Notification Rules vs. Workflow ?

     Greetings,

     I had posted a message at the end of http://community.daptiv.com/forums/t/991.aspx but I think it might have not yet been noticed.  To add the question in that post, I am wondering if I am continuing to receive notifications because the project has workflow that sends out a task when the task is overdue. So, even though I have the notificadtion rule indicating don't send me task related email, I am getting task related email because of the workflow rules?  Or to put it differently, do the workflow rules trump individual notification rules?

    Hi Andrew,

    My guess would be that you are still getting the emails because of the "workflow" rules, however I would think that regardless of why the notification was generated, it should respect a user's notification rules/settings.

    That said, I'm actually working on some Notification enhancements for the next couple releases, and personal notification settings is one of the things getting an update.  I would like to include this as an acceptance case for the email settings - Email preferences are always enforced regardless of notification source.

    Any suggestions or feedback regarding this?

    Erik,

    Would you recommend my opening a ticket with support?  I wanted to spread the knowledge within my organization of how to use "My Notifications" but if there's a problem with it conflicting wtih workflow, I should understand that first.

    In re suggestions, I think you probably have heard this before...  Daptiv needs a digest that can be controlled by the user, e.g., send x times a day, x times a week, etc.  However, an admin should be able to set the default.  Maybe this would be part of a project template.  But, just by rolling out a basic digest functionality I think you will be satisfying a signficant need in the user community.

    Please feel free to open a ticket with support on this.  Just because we're working on it doesn't mean it's fixed (yet)!

    Regarding digest notifications, that is one of the enhancements I'm hoping to tackle this year as well.
