    Closing tasks on timesheets

In the solutions library there is a presentation on timesheets. There it says it is possible to add future tasks to a timesheet. However, I have tried to add a historical task with 0 ETC and it did work.!!!

Obviously PMs need to have more control on the tasks by closing them down. Can you do that?

As far as I know one way to do that is using the project roles option and limiting people to book to assigned tasks but we still would like people to book to future tasks/tasks that are not assigned to them but they have done odd hours working on them.

     Anu comments appreciated.

Perhaps the presentation seemed too authoritative on the word "Future".  The product does allow assignees of a task to add time to any task they're assigned to - past, present or future, completed or not.  It is the approval policy of the timesheet that can be the control mechanism for the PM (or supervisor/RM) to accept/approve time booked to any task by a user.

It is not currently possible to lock down a previously completed task - from having more time added to it by the user.

In our system a PM would have more control on completed projects vs. partially completed projects in the sense that the State can be moved to completed and the project archived to preserve historical time tracked but this wouldn't apply for partially completed projects - in which case our assumption is that it should be acceptible for users to add more time per the top paragraph.

Steve, thanks for your response. To help me understand the system further could you explain the differences between

Can view read only gantt chart and update assigned tasks, can update created tasks, can update all tasks, can edit created tasks and full access.
