Best method to add resources to a task mid-way without confusing hours from that point in the task forward

Scenario: You have two resources working on a task for one week. (80 hours full time fixed duration not effort driven.)Now you have to extend the task by one week and add a third resource for the last week. The task now two weeks long with two resources for the first week full time and the second week you have three people full time.

My question is. How do you prevent the third resource from booking time on that task in the first week.. When you add him to the task it will show on his time sheet for the full two weeks. Although the resource manager only approved 40 hours for the 3rd resource.

    Johan,

The only way to guarantee the 3rd resource can't book the time the first week is to create two separate tasks.

Would this also apply when you want to assign two people different allocations on a task when setting it up?

For example, I want to create a task for 15 hours. I want one person to do 5 hrs of the work and the other person to do 10 hrs. If I enter it in as one task, it assigns each resource 7.5 hrs. Would I have to create two tasks to get the hours to properly be assigned?
